A great thing to get a plant lover at Christmastime is a Christmas cacti. These plants are easy to take care of and they are a great addition to poinsettias at Christmas.
These are much different than your run of the mill cactus. These plants come from the rain forest verses the desert. With them being from different places they are use to different environments and should be treated different.

Rubber Plants
The rubber plant would make a great plant for your collection because it is easy to take care of and it can get fairly big so it can take up space in that empty corner. These plants can live a long time with the proper care. These plant have green shiny foliage that is easy to clean, all you have to do is take a damp cloth and wipe the leaves.
These plants prefur warm temperatures but they can handle variety of different conditions. They tend to do best in temperatures between 65 to 80 degrees.
You should not over water this plant because of root rot. You should put it in a container that has sufficient drainage.
